The Marble River
Trail near Port Hardy on North Vancouver Island offers a pleasant
3.7 km walk through a mature hemlock and balsam forest, with access
to the river.
The trail stays on the bench, above a shallow canyon, cut through
the limestone rock by the action of the river. It is a very popular
recreation spot, especially for anglers keen on steelhead fishing.
Leave the North
Island Highway 16 km north of Port
McNeill, and take the paved highway towards Port
Alice for 19 km. Immediately after crossing the bridge over
Marble River, turn right into a riverside parking area.
Leave your vehicle here and walk into the campground, following
the signs to the trail. The trail ends at the river, and it takes
about 1 hour to walk to the end.
