In
Thetis Lake Regional Park, a wide and pleasant trail circles two
large and almost-joining lakes to provide a hike of up to two hours
for the full circuit, whilst enjoying the lakes from the many viewpoints.
For those with less time, follow the trail just east of Lower Lake
to the bridge at the junction of the lakes, then the fire road back
to the parking area. This shorter trail enables hikers to hike just
one lake.
The high trail east of Lower Lake leads up onto Seymour Hill, to
a cairn and a good viewpoint. The area west of the lakes has numerous
unmarked trails.
In summertime,
hikers can cool off with a lake dip from many places where the trail
leads to the shore.
Turn
off Highway 1 at the Colwood exit onto Highway 1A (8 km west of
Victoria), and turn right at Six Mile Road, which leads directly
to the park's parking area.
